This balance between the two fibres makes it softer and more pleasant to the touch. It is also worth noting that the polyester yarns are not textured, which gives the fabric a natural, soft feel.

We would also like to highlight that we process and sell it in over 120 colours; we even have our own colour line, in which we develop each shade.

Most importantly, all dyeing processes are carried out within the EU, specifically in the province of Barcelona. By working with suppliers close to us, we considerably reduce the carbon footprint of our products.

06 · Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about cotton and polyester bias binding

01

What is Byetsa’s cotton and polyester bias binding?

Byetsa’s cotton and polyester bias binding is a fabric strip cut diagonally across the grain of the fabric, made from a blend of cotton and polyester fibres. This combination provides both the softness and breathability of cotton and the durability and strength of polyester.

02

What are the advantages of Byetsa’s cotton and polyester bias binding?

By combining cotton and polyester, this bias binding offers the comfort of cotton and the wear resistance of polyester. In addition, this blend can be less prone to shrinkage than pure cotton, which can help maintain the shape and fit of garments and finished products.

03

In which widths, formats and colours is Batiste made?

Batiste is made in a wide range of widths; the most common are 12, 18, 25 and 30 mm. The most requested format is single-fold bias, and we also make corded piping and bias cut millimetre by millimetre. It is available in over 120 colours, with our own colour line. You can see all the options in Formats.

04

What is the difference between cotton and polyester bias binding and 100% cotton bias binding?

Batiste combines 50% polyester and 50% cotton: it brings together the comfort of cotton and the wear resistance of polyester, and is less prone to shrinking, so it helps the garment keep its shape. If you are looking for a pure natural fibre, the alternative is cotton bias binding. We compare both materials in the cotton vs. polyester technical guide.

05

How do you apply Byetsa’s cotton and polyester bias binding to a garment or sewing project?

Just like cotton bias binding, cotton and polyester bias binding can be sewn directly onto the edges of the fabric. It is sewn on the wrong side of the fabric, then folded over the edge to the right side and sewn again. More details in how to sew bias tape.
